I am so glad I have discovered your site! I am in New York City, and recently have been enlightened on this world that I had no idea about previously! I have re-entered Undergrad to get my degree (from a Fashion background), and currently majoring in Psychology, but wasn’t sure how to apply it to my business aspirations. Your website helps me to see that it is possible, and the plus/minus of some jobs I am interested in (Consulting and Non-Profit). Thank you, a great blog and hope to read more posts!

    Hi Angie,

So glad I found your site. I am starting my MBA in September and have my eyes fixed on a consulting career in Mckinsey. After reading your blog, I am convinced that entrepreneurship is the way to go. I have always toyed with the idea of becoming self employed after some years in consulting. Do you have any pointers for getting in the consulting industry?

Thank you for your blog once again.

hi emem – which business school are you going to? I am not sure I understand if you want to set up your own business or become a consultant? Or I guess first consultant then aiming to set up your business? To get a job in consulting, it’s quite simple, I would say networking is not as important as for most other job, make sure you get excellent grades and also that you practice interviews and case studies, get your story straight in terms of why consulting. Also make sure you know what you’re getting into!

Hi! Thanks for the great insights on your blog. I am a sort-of experienced hire, trying to get a job in consulting. Can you help me with case prep?

I can’t help with case prep unfortunately but there are lots of resources online to do this. also try to find friends/ classmates who can do mock case interviews with you. Vault guides to case interviews are useful.
